I have a confession to make. I can’t remember when I have ever kept a new year’s resolution. Like ever. So I am giving myself a break this year, and every year from here on out and throwing the deuces at making resolutions.
For 2016 I am choosing one word to represent how I will frame my thoughts, my actions, and how I will pursue my goals. That word is overflow. Why one word, why that word?
Going with one word rather than a list is simple and easy to remember. It’s like choosing a theme for a party. If your party theme is Taco Night, how easy is it to identify all of the items you need or to buy decorations? You don’t go to the store and buy pasta and charcoal because those items don’t fit into the theme. So when things come up that won’t spark an overflow in me, I will be able to easily identify and say no to them.
Dictionary.com defines overflow as a verb,”To be filled or supplied with great measure.” When used as a noun, “an excess or superabundance.” That’s my goal for 2016, to continuously be in excess and super abundance in thought, faith, love, growth, learning, teaching, and service. I want to overflow, pouring into others until I am empty and I don’t need a list to remind me of that.
Your turn! What’s your one word for 2016?
Greatness Awaits,
Ashley
