I’m picking up where we left off in last week’s email with 3 super simple steps to updating your resume. My guess is you can probably do this in under an hour…oh heeeyy lunch break.
Let’s start with my highly valuable resume writing secret…start with a target.
The secret to a resume that works for you is that it is super relevant to the job you are targeting.
If you’re not looking to change jobs right now, grab your current job description…that’s your target.
Step 1: Gather a job or two that you are in interested in or your current job description if you are staying put.
*PRO TIP*: If you’re eyeing a promotion…grab that job description.
Step 2: Look at the list of responsibilities and accomplishments that you (hopefully) made last week and highlight the responsibilities and accomplishments that match the target job description.
Step 3: Add the highlighted responsibilities and accomplishments to your resume starting with a power verb (Google if you get stuck 🙂) e.g. Developed, Executed, Managed. etc.
Easy right?
And if you’re thinking, “But Ashley, how do I construct my resume bullets because I hate writing and never feel like I’m doing it right…” I got you next week and you guessed it, it’s super easy.
Opportunity Awaits,
Ashley
